We are particularly pleased to present our new corporate member HOPS, a key company for the success of the energy transition in Croatia. HOPS is the Croatian transmission system operator, the owner of the entire Croatian transmission network (voltage levels 400kV, 220kV and 110kV) and provides the transmission of electricity as a regulated public service. It operates according to the model of an independent transmission system operator and manages the regulatory area of the Croatian electricity system (EES). In the interest of secure and high-quality electricity supply to customers and electricity exchange, the Croatian EES is interconnected with the EES of neighboring countries and other ENTSO-E members which together form a synchronous network in continental Europe.

We introduce our new corporate member – the HEP Group, the largest power utility in Croatia, without which the energy transition in Croatia and the region would not be possible.

The energy transition is not possible without major changes in the transport sector, and the automotive industry is undergoing dynamic and rapid structural change. We are therefore particularly pleased to introduce our new corporate member GA Adriatic, which is one of the leading companies in the field of e- mobility in the region.

Our new corporate member is Forte Solar d.o.o., one of the leading builders of solar power plants in Dalmatia with over 50,000 installed panels. Forte Solar offers complete solutions for the construction of solar power plants, from consulting, planning, construction, creation of complete documentation to maintenance. The Hydrocarbons Agency was established in 2014 as an operational body of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, with the goal of initiating and activating new exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the Republic of Croatia.

The company ALTPRO is our new corporate member! We are very pleased that our membership has been extended by a specialized high-tech company engaged in the development and production of signaling and safety systems for railway infrastructure and railway vehicles. The company’s production program consists of train detection systems, systems for securing railway-road crossings and safety systems for vehicles based on INDUSI technology (I60 and PZB90). More than 30 years of experience in research, development and production in the railway sector make ALTPRO one of the most important factors in the global market with solutions in more than 50 countries on 6 continents. Another international company that develops projects in the field of renewable energies has become our corporate member. VSB, headquartered in Dresden, is one of the leading full-service providers in the field of renewable energies. Its core business is the national and international project development of wind and photovoltaic parks, their operational management and the operation of its own parks.

The XEnergy International Advisory Board has been strengthened with the appointment of Ambassador Igor Pokaz, one of Croatia’s most experienced diplomats with an extensive international background. His appointment marks an important step in the internationalization of our association and will further strengthen XEnergy’s strategic position on the global stage through the development of new partnerships and initiatives.

With the new corporate member Nano Energies Croatia, XEnergy has already gathered 3 of the total of 4 registered aggregators on the Croatian market. The company Nano Energies Croatia is part of the Nano Energies Group from the Czech Republic, which started 15 years ago as an electricity trader and later as a supplier, and in recent years has dedicated itself entirely to the aggregation of flexibility.

We’re proud to present the Honorary Member of XEnergy Mr. Vjekoslav Majetić, the winner of the prestigious competition EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2023. Mr. Majetić is the founder and owner of the company DOK-ING, which designs and manufactures robotic systems that protect human lives in the most dangerous operations, especially demining, firefighting and mining. Its demining machines are leaders with a global market share of 80% and are present in over 40 countries. In addition to these globally recognised products, Mr Majetić is also developing a new technology to produce hydrogen from sewage sludge, which will make an important contribution to the energy transition. It’s a great honour for us that Mr. Vjekoslav Majetić is our first honorary member, who enhances every idea and project with his tireless energy, creativity and vision.

XEnergy’s corporate membership has expanded to include a new member – Marsh Croatia, which offers specific expertise in insurance, reinsurance and risk management, especially in the energy sector.Marsh McLennan is the world’s largest risk management company (NYSE: MMC) with 150 years of corporate tradition. Marsh McLennan employs more than 85,000 people and operates in more than 550 offices in 130 countries around the world. Total revenue in 2022 was more than $20 billion. In Croatia, Marsh operates as a broker for insurance and reinsurance, and from 2023 Marsh McLennan is integrating all 4 global brands into its business as part of a new strategy: Marsh, Mercer, Oliver Wyman and Guy Carpenter. Global expertise at the local level together with local market knowledge are their important advantages.

KOER | The First Croatian Virtual Power Plant is our new corporate member and a successful example of a technology company specialising in innovative energy solutions. KOER has developed the infrastructure of the first Croatian virtual power plant and has thus also become an aggregator – a new participant in the electricity market that is the link between the electricity market and end consumers. KOER operates a virtual power plant as an aggregator, and end consumers provide part of their electricity generation and consumption capacities. Aggregators as new entities in the electricity market play a very important role under the conditions of rapid decentralisation of the electricity system, the growing share of renewable energy sources in the production mix and the expected increase in consumption and electrification of transport.

By joining the XEnergy Network for the Promotion of Women in the Energy Transition, INA confirms its commitment to the decarbonization of the European economy.

We are very pleased to announce that the circle of our corporate members has expanded to include IE-ENERGY, an innovative start-up company founded in March 2020, whose goal is to implement new technologies and create new functional and interconnected energy markets. IE-ENERGY is creating the first regional virtual energy community as an aggregated network of medium-sized decentralised power generation units such as wind farms, solar parks and combined heat and power (CHP) plants, as well as flexible electricity consumers and storage systems. The virtual energy community uses the technology of combining generation, storage and consumption units. The aggregated units form a unit and participate in the energy markets as a balancing group managed by IE-ENERGY.

Under the leadership of Martina Biondić, Secretary of XEnergy, the second cycle of our mentorship program “Empowering Women in the Energy Transition” began at the end of last year.

Just one week after the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (HERA) adopted the long-awaited decision on the unit connection fee for the electricity grid, the association XEnergy, in partnership with the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), brought together key energy sector stakeholders at a roundtable discussion aimed at fostering an open and constructive dialogue on the new regulatory framework and its market implications.
