INA our new corporate member

INA, as a leading oil and gas company and one of the forerunners of the Croatian economy, is ready to contribute to the green energy transition. By joining the XEnergy Network for the Promotion of Women in the Energy Transition, INA confirms its commitment to the decarbonization of the European economy.

“One of our sustainability goals is to enhance the inclusion of women at all levels, as we believe that promoting women in the business community and the energy transition go hand in hand. INA is already working intensively to achieve set goals and is transforming its operations by focusing on the exploration of geothermal energy sources, the construction of solar power plants, and the production of green hydrogen and biomethane,” said Zsuzsanna Ortutay, President of the INA Management Board, on INA joining the XEnergy network, where she has been appointed a member of the International Advisory Board.

The initiatives INA is undertaking in the field of energy transition are extensive. INA believes that Croatia should leverage its potential in the development of geothermal energy, which is 60 percent greater than the European average, and has proactively engaged in this process, winning two permits in a recently conducted international public tender for exploring geothermal potentials on Croatian onshore. It is expected that soon, geothermal energy will play an important role in Croatia’s energy mix, and with its knowledge and expertise gained in oil and gas exploration, INA can take a leading role, considering that these explorations are almost identical to geothermal explorations.

At the Rijeka Refinery, the launch of green hydrogen production is planned, a project that is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. INA will thus become the first commercial producer of green hydrogen in Croatia. Additionally, we plan to produce biomethane in Sisak, which, along with the existing solar power plant, will transform this industrial location into INA’s center for renewable energy sources. The combined value of these two strategic projects, which will strengthen INA’s portfolio of renewable projects, amounts to 98 million euros. On the brink of a sustainable energy future, INA leads the transformation of the Croatian energy sector through its investments, example, and expertise.
